(Everyday Headlines) (CSTV U-WIRE) MUNCIE, Ind. -- Next triumphing its first match of Ball State University's yearly Nike Active Ankle Challenge Mon, the Cardinals' ladies' volleyball group would not handle an additional win.
Ball State beat the College of Maine (26-30, 30-23, 30-24, 25-30, 15-13) in its first match, but lost to Southeast Missouri State College (30-22, 30-23, 23-30, 27-30, 15-13) and The Ohio State College (30-21, 30-28, 30-23) in matches two and 3.
The Cardinals ended 3rd within the four-team championship.
Inspite of the win against Maine, trainer Dave Boos mentioned he was not dazzled with the five-game match.
"Within the first match, I suspect we were very tight," Boos mentioned. "We competed difficult enough to win that is actually a credit to us, but I was not overly content with the performance."
The tournament's high point salvia came within the last match salvia against Zero. 16 Ohio State. The Cardinals went down 3-0 but the group account holders mentioned they were dazzled with their activities.
Within the 2nd game Ball State rallied from the 25-16 shortfall with a 12-3 rush. With the score tied at 28, and the momentum shifted in Ball State's favor, Ohio State called a period out. The one min crack successfully fell apart the momentum swing as the Cardinals permitted two quick points, putting an end to their bid to tie the match at one game an aspect.
"It was unquestionably a downfall, but I suspect we were satisfied to have come which near to a grouping of which caliber," freshman libero Alyssa Rio mentioned. "We unquestionably needed to win it, but we were content with our performance."
Rio, Ball State's lone person in the seven person All-Tournament group, directed the championship with 84 digs, consisting of 41 within the match against Southeast Missouri State.
"I suspect which she got better and better as the weekend went on," Boos mentioned. "She's an incredibly gifted player and she has developed into a follower favourite. We certainly have had a large number of great ball control players here, before my advent, Stephanie Keller and Amanda McCormick etc .."
Diving on to the solid timber floor does not injure as often as some may think, Rio mentioned.
"It's actually not truly which bad," she mentioned. "It's more about reading, and if I will be able to read where the ball is so therefore expectantly it is going to go directly to me. For protection its my favourite thing to do within the game."
The Cardinals were directed by senior Brittany Might offensively within the championship.. But still, she had 32 mistakes within the three matches.

Angie Parrell, 1 of 2 older people on the group, began 55 of 60 matches days gone by two seasons. But still, she wasn't within the starting lineup against Ohio State.
Next the loss game one and two against Southeast Missouri State, Boos substituted Parrell with sophomore Cassie Conners.
"I believed which Cassie Conner came in and did a great career against Southeast, thus i reckoned which Cassie gained it," Boos mentioned.
Parrell wasn't on the bench long, as she subbed in through the Ohio State match. Boos mentioned he reckoned the group wanted a dissimilar approach, so he sent Parrell back in.
Boos mentioned entering the championship which serving will be a key. The Cardinals had 46 serving mistakes to 16 serving aces.
"The thing in the weekend which was most unlike what we did within the salviasalvia weekend was the complete opposite. Our rehearse this afterwards week is intending to be all over serving and dying."
With three close losses within the Ohio State match, Boos mentioned he feels serving was a prime explanation for why Ball State couldn't win a game.
"If you go to the stats against Ohio State in game one we out dug them, out obstructed them, and out strike them but lost 30-23," Boos mentioned. "That is all on account of serving and dying."
Next seeing his group compete well within the final match Boos mentioned he's hopeful to the team's twelve months.
"We competed difficult in which last match, that is what we needed to do all weekend," Boos mentioned. "It took us a smallish more time than what I should have enjoyed but by the finale I suspect we displayed folk what we shall be ... those who were on the ground and folks on the bench saw that when we could play loose, rested, the way we do in rehearse we shall develop very much and get better daily."
